FAQ's

Y'all is used in the plural sense, not the singular, like you've used it in this story. I don't know if you're aware of that or not.

Oh believe me, I've gotten 25+ e-mails on this very subject alone, and really, I am aware of it. VERY VERY aware of it. =D Blame it on two things. One, I started off my BSB writing career as a humor writer, and it took me partway through BTL to really break out of that mindset dialogue wise. Second, in spite of the fact that I'm not from the Southern US, in everyday conversation I use the word "y'all" (minus the accent, of course) in the singular sense. I also use "we" in the singular as well. I don't think about it when I'm writing dialogue, but it really seems to throw readers for a loop. It's one of the things that will be changed when I have the time to revise the story.

You say you're going to revise the story - what are you planning on changing?

Little things, obviously, the subject above, I want to develop Kevin and Karen more as characters, I want to touch on Brian's life more, there's some chapters I want to rewrite completely since I was braindead and not inspired in the slightest when I wrote them, basically what you're reading now is my rough draft, nothing has been revised, and I think the story could use a little polishing.

What is a bullpen?

In major league baseball, there are two kinds of pitchers. Starting pitchers and relief pitchers. Starting pitchers, obviously, start the game, and relief pitchers come in later in the game when the starter is tired. The bullpen is a term used to refer both to the group of relief pitchers as a whole, and to the area behind the outfield fence where the pitchers sit and warm up during the game. AJ is a relief pitcher, specifically a closer, which means his job is just to pitch the last inning of a game.

Do you have any more stories?

All my stories, including this one, are up on my fanfic site, The Story Cart. Click the link on the bottom of the right menu to visit that site.

Why can't you just type out the bad words?

I balked at putting language in this story in the first place, I could have easily written it without, and it wouldn't have changed a thing. I used it, simply to add a note of realism, however, since I know several of the people reading this story (and worse yet, their parents), I censored it. Time Magazine does the same thing. You'll live.

Will there be a sequel?

A full fledged sequel, the chances are very slim. However, I have a short story companion piece that's very close to completion. Click the "Angels Among Us" link on the right menu.

Why are they playing in Seattle? The guys aren't even from Seattle!

Yeah, but *I* am, I'm a Mariners fan, and I prefer to write what I know. The locations where they live (or work in the case of Stacy), they're all real locations in the Seattle area. It wouldn't work if I was writing about the Devil Rays. I've never been to Florida, I know nothing about the state, city or the team.

Which character is you?

None of them. I refuse to put myself in a story I'm writing. Certainly there are elements of me in some characters, but I am not any one of them. I base my characters on friends, family and co-workers (and in the case of the guys, the guys themselves). For the record, however, I relate the most to AJ.
