Author's Note

I'm not quite sure where to start. I came up with the idea for this story in August of 2000, and it took me almost exactly a year to get it written. It was based on several different ideas floating around in my head, the two biggest being a book Say Goodnight Gracie by Julie Deaver and a storyline I had created about a ficticious Mariners team several years before.

The characters were all based on people I know (with the exception of the guys, who were based on themselves for the most part), co-workers, my grandmother, Becky was simply my baby doll from childhood personified. Then I started writing the story, and the characters took on a life of their own, especially Brian. Brian is flat out amazing, and I never even planned on it.

I didn't write this story with the intention of only appealing to Backstreet fans, or only appealing to Mariners or baseball fans. People on both sides have been skeptical, because "it's about baseball" or "it's about Backstreet Boys". I think the story stands on its own, without either Backstreet or the Mariners.
